About Images of the Ozarks
Being interested in art my entire life, I picked up a camera at an early age and have constantly tried to capture the beauty I see around me in everyday life.
Much of my childhood was spent exploring the countryside of southern Missouri through visits with my grandparents and vacations with my parents. From these experiences I am able to pull from my memories and find many of the places I visited and heard stories of as a youngster. These searches have also led me to find many remote and rural areas soon to be lost or forgotten. One thing I strive for in my work is a lack of modern civilization and the impact it has on our changing Ozarks. A simple quiet, a peacefulness.
After high school I attended Drury University where I majored in studio art. Since that time I have worked for newspapers, design firms and printing companies as a Graphic Designer. My design career has given me the opportunity to learn and use many of the latest techniques and technologies and incorporate them into my photography.
Currently I have self published one book: The Vanishing Ozarks, Volume I, a small collection of some of the images found here on my website. I have recently completed the layouts for The Vanishing Ozarks, Volume II and also Seasons of the Ozarks. Both of these have not been published as of yet.
I am a founding board member of the Mt. Vernon Regional Arts Council, hosts to a growing number of community events including the Not So Square Arts Festival.
I’ve been very fortunate to have so much support in my work, from young people to old, from across the world to corporate America, I can’t thank them enough.
Please look over the images. This is your chance to explore the beauty I find around myself in everyday life. This is my chance to share it with the world.
Enjoy.
